I am Alhassan Yakubu Alhassan, a sociologist, researcher, educator, and farmer from Ghana, based in Kristiansand, Norway. I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Agder, where I have also taught sociology, research methods, political ecology, and development studies.
My research explores how social relationships shape power, inequality, governance, and social change. I am particularly interested in social networks, urban governance, digitalisation, sustainability, migration, and rural development. My work combines sociological theory with quantitative and qualitative research methods, particularly social network analysis.
I hold master's degrees in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Development Management from the University of Agder, Norway, as well as a bachelor's degree in Sociology and Social Work from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
Beyond academia, I am a farmer with a strong interest in agriculture and rural life in northern Ghana. My experiences in farming and rural communities continue to shape how I think about development, inequality, livelihoods, and the relationship between people and their environments.
Through research, teaching, writing, and farming, I seek to better understand the social world and contribute to more inclusive and sustainable communities.
